Rachel Laura Walden, 42, struggled with lifelong seizures from Epilepsy. On March 26, 2024, Rachel experienced SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) and suffered her last seizure before entering the arms of Christ. Rachel was born on October 7, 1981, in Bristol, TN to Paul David and Kathy Renee Walden. Rachel attended Virginia High School Class of 2000, where she was percussionist in the VHS Band. She continued her education and graduated from National Business College with an Associate of Science as a Registered Medical Assistant in 2007. Rachel worked in geriatric care and later as an employee of Wellmont before later moving to Texas.Rachel loved Christ, His Word, and His Church. Rachel grew up and attended Calvary Baptist Church until her middle school years and then attended Fellowship Chapel into her mid 20's. Rachel then moved to Fort Worth, TX and poured her whole heart into serving the disenfranchised. She had a heart for the homeless, the prostitute, the addict, and unwed mothers. She had a passion for abortion alternatives and babies. Rachel later returned to Bristol, VA in November of 2021 where she resided until her passing.Rachel is preceded in death by her great grandmother Marie Fee, grandparents, Lloyd & Laura Walden and Paul & Sue Moore. Rachel is survived by her parents, David and Renee Walden, brother and sister-in-law, Aaron & Rachel N. Walden; nephews, Joshua & David Walden; nieces, Elizabeth & Suzanna Walden; aunts, Debbie Kiser (husband Van), Patsy Sullivan, Barbara Ison, Kathy Olding (husband Steve); uncles, Larry Moore, Gilmer Walden (wife Theresa), Glen Walden (wife Brenda); special cousin, Caleb Kiser (wife Heather); and many, many more cousins, great aunts and extended family.Services will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Fellowship Chapel Church. Visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a celebration of life service to follow at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fellowship Chapel Building Fund, (201 Crockett Street, Bristol, VA 24201) or The Epilepsy Foundation (Attn: Donor Services Epilepsy Foundation, 3540 Crain Highway Suite 675, Bowie, MD 20716).
