Sarah “Sally” Lois Maiden, 88, of Abingdon, VA went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Johnston Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.Sally was born in Saltville, VA on May 15, 1935, to the late Moses Ellison, Sr and Ella Hockett Ellison. Sally lived most of her adult life in Abingdon, VA.Sally was married to the late Donald Wayne Maiden, of Abingdon, VA for 45 years and until his death in 2019.Sally was preceded in death by one brother, Moses Ellison, Jr; and three sisters, Dorothy Ellison, Addie Loyd and Ella Mae Ward.Surviving are one son, Henry C. “Jay” Lloyd, Jr., and wife, Laurie Davenport Lloyd of Panama City, FL; one daughter, Tammy Lloyd Lambert and husband, Harold Scott Lambert, Jr of Bristol, VA; one stepdaughter, Sandra Maiden Pascasio and husband, Christian Pascasio of Glen Allen, VA; one grandson, Philip Dean Casey and fiancée, Rachel Ashcraft of Summerville, SC; and one granddaughter, Sara Mariah Smith of Johnson City, TN.Sally went to high school in Indiana. She worked at Sears Catalog Store in Abingdon, VA for many years, until her retirement. Sally was an active member of Temple Baptist Church in Abingdon, VA where she taught Children’s Church and worked with the Puppet Ministry. Sally loved going to the beach, reading the Bible, planting flowers, having summer cookouts and spending time with family. She was a very giving person and once gave a stranger her new coat right off her back in the dead of winter.To honor her wishes, the service will be held for immediate family only and the burial will take place at Glenwood Cemetery in Bristol, TN where she will find eternal rest in the burial plot with her beloved husband, Donald Wayne Maiden.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any Children’s Church program or the American Lung Association.Memories and condolences may be shared at www.blevinscares.com. We're truly so sorry to learn this. Aunt Sara was so loved, so full of care, joy, life, excitement, and love & truly loved the Lord and us. 4 of us (Indiana) went by Glenwood yesterday with flowers to learn that over 4 weeks past, she has not been buried nor do they have a "notice of receiving" ahead. Perhaps, last minute, a different decision was made. Regardless, the special place in our hearts for her will never change. (the burial will take place at Glenwood Cemetery in Bristol, TN where she will find eternal rest in the burial plot with her beloved husband, Donald Wayne Maiden.)
