Thomas Long Nooning, age 78, of Bristol, Virginia, passed away on January 19, 2024. He was born on June 16, 1945 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Edgar and Catherine Nooning. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, John (Jack) and Nora Nooning Rogers; mother and father in law, Hugh B. (Jack) and Celia Vanhoy Cross.Thomas attended Mary Mount High School and later attended Eastern Kentucky University. He was a member of Fellowship Chapel in Bristol, VA. He worked for an oil distributor selling Pennzoil. He enjoyed watching Nascar with his dad and fishing. He was an easy-going man and will be dearly missed.He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Karen Nooning; step daughter, Erin Martin; grandsons, Zachary Whiteaker (Angel) and Braiden King; great grandsons, Trenten Whiteaker and Tidus Whiteaker; great granddaughter, Arabella Whiteaker; bonus great grandson, Kobe Pittman; siblings, Eddie, Jerry and Bill Nooning, Marian (Pat) Mingen, Elizabeth (Rick) Eaton, and Cathy Nooning; sister in law, Vickie (Jim) Elliott; cat, Honey Bear; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.A committal service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Weavers Cemetery beginning at 2:00 PM with Pastor Scott Price officiating.The family would like to extend a special thank you to Shannon Morefield Martin for having coffee with Thomas while Karen ran errands.Online condolences for the family may be sent and viewed by visiting www.BlevinsCares.com. Tom was the oldest in our family of nine kids. He was known to us as Tommy Long. I can still hear my mom calling him that. He passed away on our parents 80th anniversary. I have fond memories of him coming home from college and spending summers working at Paramont Pickels in Louisville. He would also spend countless hours working on his 57 Chevy. I know Tommy Long is now at peace and reunited with our parents and other family members who have gone before him. Lots of love and prayers for Karen and Zach.
